Veterans’ Home Care

Carexcell is proud to support the Veteran community by offering a range of services delivered through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) program. This includes domestic assistance, personal care, in-home respite, home and garden maintenance and social assistance.

What we can help with

Domestic Assistance

Our trained and friendly team of Community Carers can assist entitled person’s to maintain a safe, tidy and comfortable. We can provide house cleaning, washing the dishes, bed making, meal preparation and unaccompanied shopping.

We can support entitled persons with everyday self-care tasks to maintain physical wellbeing and hygiene. This includes, showering, toileting, getting in and out of bed, eating, dressing and grooming.

Personal Care

Respite Care

In-home Respite. Our team of trained and qualified staff can give carers a break from their caring responsibilities as a one off service or more regularly (up to 196 hours per financial year through VHC). This allows carers to have a break.

Our maintenance team can support entitled persons to maintain their home. Tasks can include lawn mowing, changing light bulbs, tap washers, smoke alarm batteries and cleaning of gutters, windows, exhaust fans and air-con split systems. We can also provide support following natural disasters. *not all areas

Home and Garden Maintenance*

Coordinated Veterans’ Care Social Assistance

We can offer a tailored 12 week program to entitled persons who are socially isolated. Our team will assist to empower the entitled person to meet their needs for social support and community engagement by increasing their confidence, independence and networks.

What is the process

Step 1

Check your eligibility. If you have a:
a) Veteran Gold Card (DVA Veteran Card – All Conditions within Australia) or,
b) Veteran White Card (DVA Veteran Card – Specific Conditions), call the Veterans’ Home Care Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450 and an assessor will check your eligibility.

Step 2

If eligible, an assessor will conduct an assessment over the phone to identify your care needs. If services are required, the VHC Assessment Agency will approve a Care Plan which will be sent to you.

Step 3

A VHC Service Provider will contact you to discuss the commencement of the services.

Step 4

Upon receipt of the care plan the Veterans Home Care provider will call you.
