The Story of Carexcell

Established in 2005, Carexcell began with a clear and powerful purpose: to provide culturally safe, high-quality aged care services for older First Nations people living on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. From inception, the organisation was built on the principles of empowerment, inclusion, and community-led care.

In 2008, Carexcell was awarded Community Aged Care Package licenses, which enabled the expansion of services across the Coffs Coast. Over the following years, Carexcell continued to grow steadily, bringing these vital supports online and ensuring older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people received respectful, personalised, and dignified care.

As Carexcell matured, so too did its mission. By 2016, the organisation had broadened its services to support people from diverse backgrounds and needs. New programs were introduced to assist individuals at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness, NDIS services, as well as veterans receiving home care through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

By 2020, Carexcell had become a trusted provider of aged and community care services across the entire Mid-North Coast, with funding streams expanding to include a variety of State and locally supported programs. In 2023, the organisation continued its trajectory of sustainable growth by extending its reach into metropolitan Sydney, the Hunter, and New England regions, ensuring that even more people could benefit from its values-led approach to care.

In 2025, Carexcell took another significant step forward by acquiring Autism Adventures, a respected organisation known for its innovative, person-centred support for neurodiverse individuals. This strategic acquisition enabled Carexcell to extend its empowering approach to people with autism and further diversify the communities it serves—while remaining firmly anchored in its commitment to inclusion, dignity, and respect.

Throughout its evolution, Carexcell has never wavered from its founding mission: to empower people to live their best lives through compassionate, culturally informed, and high-quality care. Today, Carexcell continues to grow not simply in size, but in impact—working alongside individuals, families, and communities to foster strength, independence, and wellbeing.
